Problems with parking
A perceived shortage of existing parking spaces can lead to problems for businesses and hospitals. In both cases, the problem might be made worse by the desire of organisations to expand their productive capacity either by increasing the number of employees on site or else by building new facilities on existing parking spaces.
When parking spaces are scarce, employees are more likely to be unhappy with their journey to work. Where certain (senior management) employees are given dedicated spaces, this can also lead to feelings of resentment.
For hospitals, there is also a need to balance the car parking needs of staff, patients and visitors.
