System for Evaluation of Mobility Projects
Various types of measures are needed that influence transports, travelling habits, and road user behaviour. Information and communication are often effective in achieving change. It is often difficult to show effects in the short term, as much of the work is spent on changing attitudes and behaviour, which is a process that takes time. This report describes a tool for systematic evaluation of projects in the field of travel and transports, called SUMO, System for Evaluation of Mobility Projects. SUMO is a new system for the planning, monitoring and evaluation of projects that through “soft measures” such as organisational routines or information and knowledge-raising activities or communication, aim to influence attitudes and behaviour. By using this method you can measure the type of behaviour-changing projects that have previously been difficult or impossible to monitor. This report describes how to achieve this.
